陳氏出生和長大於多倫多，是一名多學科藝術家，擔任劇作家，歌詞作者，戲劇顧問和導演工作，舞台作品分別在美國、蘇格蘭、香港、俄羅斯、及加拿大演出。長編話劇作品包括The Madness of the Square、a nanking wnter、及Tails from the City。歌劇作詞包括Sanctuary Song、The Lesson of Da Ji、及近期的M’dea Undone。在香港，陳氏曾經為進劇團的製作《母雞身上的刀子》及《玩偶之家》擔任導演。曾獲獎項包括四次獲多倫多的Dora Mavor Moore 獎（三次寫作獎，一次演出獎）、安大略省的戲劇K.M. Marjorie Chan (Playwright)
Marjorie is a multidisciplinary artist born and raised in Toronto, working as playwright, librettist, dramaturge and director. Her works for the stage have been performed in the United States, Scotland, Hong Kong, Russia and across Canada. Her full-length works as a playwright include the plays The Madness of the Square, a nanking winter, Tails From the City, as well as the libretti for the operas, Sanctuary Song, The Lesson of Da Ji, and most recently M’dea Undone. In Hong Kong, Marjorie has directed Knives in Hens and A Doll’s House for Theatre du Pif.
Marjorie is the recipient of four Dora Awards (3 for writing, 1 for performance), the K.M. Hunter Artist’s Award in Theatre, the Entertainment World Award for Best New Work, as well as a Harold Award for her contribution to the Toronto theatre community. Notable nominations include the Governor General’s Literary Award for her playwriting debut, China Doll and the Canadian Citizen Award for her work with Crossing Gibraltar – Cahoots Theatre’s program for newcomers and other marginalized communities.
She has been artist-in-residence with Factory Theatre, Banff Playwrights’ Colony, Tapestry Opera, Cahoots Theatre, Theatre Centre, Theatre Direct Canada, SUNY (Geneseo, New York) and Theatre du Pif (Hong Kong). Current projects include Lady Sunrise (Arts Club - Vancouver) The Monkey King (Canadian Children’s Opera Chorus) with composer Alice Ping-Yee Ho何冰頤, and The Year of the Cello (Factory Theatre) with composer Njo Kong Kie 楊光奇. When not writing, Marjorie is the Artistic Director of Cahoots Theatre since 2014, where her focus has been on artist incubation and development, community arts access as well as advocacy for a broadening inclusivity in theatre for artists and audiences alike. www.cahoots.ca
